My Story

I’ve always been passionate about marketing and design. In college, I was an art history major, dreaming of running a gallery one day. Then somewhere along the way I ended up focusing on business courses, which resulted with my getting a degree in marketing. I’ve always gone back and forth between the two. As much as my right brain wants to create something beautiful, my left side wants to analyze and improve what was created.

My first real marketing job after college was as a music promoter. For a music-lover like me it was a dream come true. I was lucky to learn from some of the most incredible people in the industry about strategic planning and the importance of building relationships. Even back then, however, I always found a way to incorporate design into my work. In the beginning, I was designing (brace yourself for this one) weekly faxes. Later in my career, as a publicist and marketing manager, I found myself designing flyers and social media assets while also art-directing freelance designers.

Eventually I went back to school to hone my skills in graphic and web design. After graduation I was fortunate to land a job as a full-time designer for Bright Horizons in the corporate marketing & creative services department. I learned a ton about design and marketing while I was there, but I also learned the value of collaboration and open lines of communication. After four years with the company, I left Bright Horizons to start a new life in Raleigh, North Carolina.

As a web designer with my current employer I jumped at the chance to launch their marketing automation tool. Since early 2016 I have been using it to analyze data, optimize campaigns, and push content. While I still work on design projects, I’ve become slightly obsessed with Marketo and am currently working towards becoming a certified expert, further enforcing my love/love relationship with marketing and design.

My Experience

July 2020 — Marketing Automation Manager Bandwidth
  • Support teams across the organization with marketing automation integrations to help grow inbound lead volume, maintain a healthy database, identify buyer intent, and target in-market accounts.
  • Own the marketing automation roadmap. Plan strategies and timing of projects to streamline processes, improve lead journeys, and maintain data compliance.
  • Partner with product marketing and demand generation teams to build effective GTM email strategies in support of product and vertical lines of business. Act as a strategic resource for integrated communications planning and marketing activation across the organization.
  • Lead and grow the Marketing Automation team to drive effective marketing messaging to our database of prospects and customers. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with campaign workflows, lead lifecycle management, MAP integrations, data enrichment, and CRM syncs.
  • Define KPIs for individual campaigns, establish annual goals, and work with business analysts to develop reports that inform business decisions impacting database growth and marketability, lead conversions, and revenue attribution.
  • Communicate strategy, results, and recommendations to senior sales and marketing leadership.
November 2018 — Marketing Automation Specialist & Email Marketing Manager Charles & Colvard
  • Create and manage all Marketo marketing automation programs and work with IT to maintain the syncing of data between Marketo and the eCommerce CRM, loyalty platform, and other external lead generation API sources
  • Develop segmentation strategy and integrations needed to deliver personalized content in email, on the website and in social media
  • Manage all email and nurture campaigns, including design, content, audience, testing, execution, reporting and optimization
  • Run operational programs to preserve and regularly monitor database health
  • Create reporting dashboards and custom reports analyzing KPIs to provide actionable insights and bring forward ideas for continuous improvement
  • Drive growth of the company’s loyalty program and its contribution to increasing average order values and customer lifetime values
June 2017 — Marketing Manager – Branding & Communications NWN Corporation
  • Maintain Marketo architecture, lead database, operational programs and integrations with CRM and launchpoint services
  • Build and monitor Marketo email sends, lead generation and lead nurture programs
  • Plan and execute all digital marketing, including email communications, content syndication, social media presence, SEO/SEM and blog development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create marketing collateral for digital distribution including videos, emails, landing pages, infographics, white papers, ebooks, blogs, and case studies
  • Manage external designers and writers for production of content that adheres to corporate brand standards

  • Redesigned CD cover artwork for Tristania "Ashes" which resulted in a 19% jump in North American sales upon release
  • Consistently developed and executed marketing plans using a mix of traditional and digital media that met or exceeded sales goals while staying under budget
  • Organized national and regional events for new products to extend brand reach and encourage fan loyalty

  • Provided press coverage, radio airplay and tour promotion for many well-known and emerging artists in the loud rock genre
